Commemorating the International Day of the Girl Child, 11th of October, brought me back to the European Week of Action for Girls (EWAG) for the second time. This wasn’t just an event for me—it was a journey of learning, growing, and advocating for issues that deeply affect girls and young people worldwide.

Returning to EWAG was a privilege—one that reminded me how far we’ve come and how much more there is to do. I’m especially grateful to Save a Girl Save a Generation for believing in me and making this experience possible.

Conversations That Left a Mark

One moment that stood out was meeting with members of the European Parliament (MEPs). Sitting across from Estrella Galán, an advocate for migrants and refugees, was both humbling and inspiring. Her work to protect those fleeing practices like female genital mutilation and other forms of gender-based violence echoed the mission of Save a Girl Save a Generation.

That conversation rekindled my belief in the importance of advocating for a world where all girls can grow, thrive, and learn in safety. It’s a mission that feels more urgent with every story I hear.

Lessons in Advocacy for Girls’ Rights

Beyond formal meetings, I had the chance to connect with other youth advocates. Their passion and determination to tackle gender inequality, education barriers, and resource access issues in their communities left a lasting impression on me.

Being surrounded by people who share the same purpose reminded me why I do this work. Their resilience and drive reaffirmed my own commitment to striving for a world that’s fairer for all.

Looking Forward with Hope

Representing Save a Girl Save a Generation at EWAG for a second time was not just an honor—it was a reminder of their dedication to uplifting young voices like mine.

As I reflect on this experience, I feel inspired to continue advocating for the rights of girls and women worldwide. Each step forward brings us closer to a future where every girl can live without fear and with endless opportunities.

I encourage everyone reading this to join the movement for girls’ rights. Whether through volunteering, donating, or simply spreading awareness, every action matters in creating a safer world for girls.
